The American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA) www.apdaparkinson.org was founded in 1961 to “Ease the Burden and Find the Cure” through research, as well as patient and caregiver support and education. APDA has participated in the funding of every PD scientific discovery. In addition to supporting seven advanced centers for research located in major academic and medical centers across the country, individual research grants and fellowships are awarded annually for promising research by experienced and young scientists. A prominent panel of the country’s most outstanding neurologists and scientists reviews all research applications and recommends funding.
